Our Story
About GreenFire
Fire Suppression Innovations, Inc., the parent company of GreenFire®, was founded in 2016. That year, FSI’s team of experts in fire protection, organic food production, engineering, and biochemistry discovered a need for fire suppression products free from the harsh chemicals that would corrode their equipment with basic use.
They set out to develop a solution that would serve a variety of industries – from firefighting, to contractors, utilities, homeowners, and more. What they created was something never before seen in fire protection: a highly effective wetting agent made from environmentally friendly materials that was not only non-corrosive, but also PFAS-free and non-carcinogenic.
Notably, it would later come to be the first and only fire suppressant to be NSF White Book listed, making it safe to use on and around food processing equipment.
The Problem: PFAS Toxicity
The leading firefighting foams that have been used to combat fires for more than half a century are laden with highly toxic PFAS chemicals. These have since been linked to cancer, reproductive and immune system harm, and have also been shown to be highly toxic to our waterways and the environment as a whole. Sadly, cancer is now the leading cause of death among firefighters.
As awareness surrounding the toxicity of PFAS has continued to gain attention at the highest levels of industry and government, and as cancer rates and the number and intensity of wildfires continues to multiply, the need for FSI’s proprietary technology – now patented and marketed as GreenFire® – is profound.
The Solution: GreenFire®
Still unmatched in the industry, GreenFire® technology has been applied to the development of several groundbreaking fire protection products in the company’s portfolio, serving a variety of industries.
Among these products, GreenFire® Firefighting Foam (GFFF) promises to be an industry game-changer, as government legislation – already in effect in several states – is currently moving toward banning the use of PFAS-containing firefighting foams in favor of effective alternatives that do not harm the environment nor human health.
As GreenFire® already has this combination down to a science, the company is optimally positioned to lead change in the industry.
