GreenFire Safety and Toxicity Data

At GreenFireĀ®, our commitment to safeguarding human health and the environment is something we stand behind wholeheartedly. We also champion transparency, so weā€™ve designed this page to make it easy for you to access GreenFire safety and toxicity data, as well as third party listings and certifications that speak to our product safety.

Our Commitment

We applaud you for taking the time to properly research and understand how our products compare to others in the industry. All testing, certifications, and listings concerning GreenFire safety and toxicity were carried out by independent third party organizations, in an effort to demonstrate our commitment to transparency and unbiased claims.

We encourage you to seek similar information from other manufacturers to see what information they make publicly available for comparison. If anything is unclear, feel free to reach out for answers; weā€™re always happy to have a candid conversation regarding our product safety and efficacy.

UL Classified (Canada and USA)

The UL Safety Mark means a product has been certified to meet scientific safety, quality or security standards. They also continue to check products months and years after testing to make sure they still meet the requirements.

See our UL Listing.

The UL Classified Mark commonly appears on products that have been evaluated for a specific hazard or for performance under specific conditions. Our GreenFire Multi Class foam/Wetting Agent is also classified underĀ NFPA 18 Wetting AgentĀ guidelines per the UL 711 standard

NSF International White Book Listed

To our knowledge, no other fire suppression product on the market carries this listing. This rigorous standard certifies that our products are safe for use on and around food processing equipment. No Haz-Mat clean up required; just a simple wipe down with soap and water will render equipment and surfaces that have come in contact with GreenFire suitable for contact with food once again.

GreenScreen Silver Certified

According to their website, GreenScreen Certified™ for Firefighting Foam is the world’s first ecolabel to confirm fluorine-free firefighting foam products. PFAS-free is defined as zero intentionally added PFAS to the product and PFAS contamination in the product must be less than 0.0001 percent by weight of the product (1 part per million) total organic fluorine as measured by combustion ion chromatography.

Our GFFF Green Firefighting Foam, which is a safe and effective alternative to legacy AFFF foams, has met the third-party standards to bear this important certification. (Listed under Fire Suppression Innovations, our parent company.)

OMRI Listed

According to their website, the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is an international nonprofit organization that determines which input products are allowed for use in organic production and processing. OMRI ListedĀ® products are allowed for use in certified organic operations under the USDA National Organic Program.

Our GreenFire Pro Defense for Organic Use ā€“ which was developed from the same patented GreenFire technology that inspired our firefighting foams ā€“ bears this prestigious certification.

SERDP AFFF Challenge Award Recipient – 2021

A collaboration of the Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Energy, the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) conducted testing on fluorine-free AFFF alternatives in 2021. GreenFireā€™s GFFF submission was deemed successful and awarded a prize, with further testing in process with the Naval Research Laboratory.

EPA-Rated as ā€œPractically Non-Toxicā€

In the interest of determining our aquatic toxicity levels in an unbiased manner, we subjected our products to third party testing by an NELAP-accredited laboratory and achieved exceptional results. In all categories of aquatic toxicity testing, our GreenFire Wetting Agent received the best achievable EPA rating of ā€œPractically Non-Toxic.ā€

The included chart provides an easy-to-understand comparison between our product versus common products and substances.

An important note when reviewing the chart: lower LC50/EC50 values = more toxic, whereas higher values signify a less toxic substance. LC50 = Lethal Concentration 50; EC50 = Effective Concentration 50.

NO California Prop 65 Components

GreenFireā€™s patented formula is so clean and free from toxic chemicals that we can confidently and proudly assert that our products contain NO California Prop 65 components. CA Prop 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The list currently includes approximately 900 toxic chemicals ā€“ none of which are found in GreenFire products.
